International Rescue Committee and Covid-19
Hi Everyone - My name is Amanda and I am one of the crew members over at Humble Crew! Besides working with some of the best people daily, one of the high points with Humble Crew are our monthly Happy Hour social events. This month we got to enjoy warmer weather, some great conversation and games as well as an insightful look into the International Rescue Committee. The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future. In more than 40 countries and in 26 U.S. cities, their dedicated teams provide clean water, shelter, health care, education and empowerment support to refugees and displaced people.
This organization has helped countless families around the world and as a family-oriented company specializing in children’s playroom furniture, it speaks near and dear to our hearts. By providing access to health care, education and food IRC has put in place high-impact, cost-effective solutions that have helped people affected by crisis.
In addition to a monetary donation, we have donated 5 rescue gifts for those impacted by COVID-19. These COVID-19 Emergency Hygiene Kits help displaced moms protect themselves as well as their children and contain essentials such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, wipes, diapers, maternity pads and more. Being a new mother is one the of life’s most precious gifts. These women have so much to worry about, having access to daily necessities should not be one of them.
In addition to our monetary donation and gifts, we will be volunteering our time on a more local level and helping those within our New York and New Jersey communities. The IRC in New York maintains a ½ acre New Roots Community Farm that serves over 30 families in the Bronx. Over the summer, our team plans to get our hands dirty and support our local families in need! Do not worry, we will share pictures!
