Fun in the Park and Back to School Donations

This month Humble Crew met up for some end-of-the-summer outdoor fun at Englewood Picnic Area, part of the Palisades Interstate Park in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.  This park overlooks the Hudson River and has an absolutely gorgeous view of the Inwood Hill Nature Center in New York.  We lucked out with mild weather and lots of shade, so we could enjoy our time until dusk!

Of course, a picnic in the park isn’t complete without burgers, chips, salad, and chicken wings.  After eating we also got to celebrate our colleague Raphael’s upcoming wedding.  It was so nice to support him in the upcoming event.  Since their wedding is floral themed, we got cookies with flowers all over them to congratulate the soon-to-be-wed.  We each filled out a card with our own advice to the newlyweds and compiled these advice cards into a book as a gift, along with a card and a surprise present from his registry.  We wish Raphael and Cindy a wonderful wedding and all the best as they begin their new life together!

For entertainment, we had our knowledge tested with trivia of all sorts.  We started off with some Humble Crew trivia to see how well we knew each other, with the girls competing against the boys.  After the ladies won, we moved onto 2000s pop culture trivia where it was every individual for themselves.  We didn’t keep score there, but there were some obvious 2000s experts who led the pack.

For our August charitable contribution, we donated another batch of samples and kids’ furniture to schools and families in need.  We sent toy organizers, bookracks, and a few table and chair sets to The Verrazano School in Brooklyn, the East Rutherford School District, the Glen Ridge School District, and the Cranford School District.  Especially with the back-to-school season ramping up this month, it was great to be able to support a variety of academic institutions through our donations.  As summer comes to a close, we hope everyone enjoys the last of the warm weather and has a wonderful, safe, and healthy start to the new school year!
