3 Tips to Help You Clean for Fall

Fall is officially here, and New Jersey weather certainly proves it!  As the leaves begin to change colors and the temperature drops, now is the perfect opportunity to organize around the home.  While you pack up your shorts and flip flops in preparation for cozy sweaters and flannels, here are 3 tips to help you get ready for cooler weather and the upcoming holiday season!

  1. Purge, Then Store

Reduce clutter by getting rid of anything you didn’t wear the whole season.   Find a donation center or thrift store near you to make sure old clothes aren’t going to waste and find a new home!  Consider regifting anything with the tags still on.  Once you’ve pared down your unwanted spring and summer items, store them out of sight for a neat aesthetic free of clutter.

  1. Organization for Your Family

If you have little ones in school, this is a great time to figure out a way to make mornings easier.  Now that the academic year is in full swing and you know what you need to get out of the door on time, an open-faced storage solution in the mud room or entryway can be a life saver!  This bin organizer with shelf is great for holding scarves, gloves, hats, mittens, keys, sunglasses, lunch boxes, and more for quick and easy access on the way out.

  1. Plan Ahead

With holiday season approaching, now is a great time to organize gift wrap, boxes, and decorations for easy access.  You can also make a space to hide gifts that you plan to accumulate over the next few months.  If you plan to host guests for the holiday season, get a head start on tidying up the guest room or basement.  This is a great way to see what additional storage or organizational items you will need.  Visit our shop to find stylish and functional home storage that is guaranteed to impress friends and family, while effortlessly keeping your space organized.

Humble Crew also did some fall cleaning this month by donating samples of our toy storage organizers, kids table and chairs sets, and bookracks to Bergen Volunteer’s Making-It-Home and Head Start Children’s House in Hackensack, NJ.  Making-It-Home is an organization that supports victims of domestic violence and homelessness get back on their feet.  Head Start Children’s House provides afterschool programs and other services and resources to underserved families.  We are so grateful to be able to support these organizations doing important work in our community.  We wish these families the very best and hope their new furniture brings them joy!
